Bill Gates recently said, “We are in an economic downturn but an innovation upturn.” Most people are focusing on the downturn and the dangers it poses rather than on the opportunity for innovation. Most businesses are restructuring, streamlining their operations, reducing headcount, cutting budgets and re-forecasting.

The EU recently announced an exciting initiative for 2009 – the European Year of Creativity and Innovation. To discuss how this will benefit businesses in the EU, the heads of Dr Edward de Bono’s Distributor network in Europe, and Dr de Bono himself, met in Holland last week.
