EU Year of Creativity

I believe the year 2009 has been announced as the EU Year of Creativity. I hope this is going to include creative thinking and not just the arts.
I have offered to give a free seminar in Brussels to EU personnel in order to indicate what can be done about ‘idea creativity’.
I also intend to set up a Palace of Thinking which would hold periodic meetings to generate new ideas on specific subjects. This Palace would be in Malta if the government can make available a suitable palace. Otherwise, in whichever country offered a suitable Palace.
The imperative, I believe, is to deliver the simple message as has been presented by such as Sir Ken Robinson.
It is that we must be planning, creatively, for what will be required a generation of years ahead or more.
The explanation should focus fully upon creativity within education and training.
The agenda must be one of Support, Support, Support.
And the support must come form those dedicated individuals who, following an inclusive approach, are converts to the possibilities presented by applied imagination and our creative abilities, whatever the process and the toolkits.
I second the proposal to use the old Royal Theatre in Valletta destroyed by German bombs and – so far – a memorial to man’s inability to think and re-build.
Why not get it re-built by the issuance of an international bond guaranteed by EU?
I whole heartedly support Dr DeBono’s cause and even sympathise with him in his single handed struggle for convincing world about New Thinking. To my mind,it may be esier to convince all those who are used to ‘Critical Thinking” mode only if we try to distinguish between ‘Critical Thinking System’ and ‘Creative Thinking System’.The difference brought about by the suffex system can be compared with a triangle in the Euclidian space with a traingle in the Cartician coordinate that has a reference system. Thus all characacteristics or elements of the system that describe ‘Creative Thinking should be interlinked form the internal structure of the system,which would be very different from the internal structure of the ‘Critical Thinking System’. This systems designining is obviously not very simple as it requires understanding of number desciplines. I would be happy to give it a try provided like minded people are willing to do their bit..

CREATIVE-CLASS-NET: Italian-Style : enhancing a Draft of a Guide for Development in the 2009 EUROPEAN YEAR of CREATIVITY & INNOVATION

Dear friends, it is important to begin to delineate an original track of developmental design of the CREATIVE CLASS NET as a tool orientation is not prescriptive, but shared, for obtaining an flexible guide to develop a system of converegent self-organization of the various initiatives taken by partners whorecognize themselves spontaneously to give adhesion to the “OPEN NETWORK FOR NEW SCIENCE & ART. ” (ON-NS & A).
The research group ON-NS&A start with the belief that the hopes of overcoming the structural crisis of contemporary Industrial society, do not consist in the resumption of the old mode of development, but vice versa, it is based on substantial change of a new era , characterized by a re-positioning the society within the framework of the development of the knowledge economy.
This means that all the concepts and the practices of “Mechanics”production traditionally acquided need to be deeply revised. Consequently giving credit to this complex context of Innovation on the joint production of tangible goods and intangible assets, the network ON-NS & A proposes to develop a business project, essentially based on the ability to produce and use research and innovation at high- quality level , for improving the creation of a new typology for a durable and sustainable development.
In this context, “CREATIVE CLASS-NET: Italian Style”, shows how basic training program for a new leaders, in order to be prepared to contribute to a deep renovation of science and culture in relation with a consistent commitment to the promotion of society and Knowledge Driven Economy based on creativity and innovation.
Henceforth considering that the development did not match in a linear progress, the actions of “CREATIVE CLASS -NET / IS ” will be set by a mode of address a program intended to foster “Contraction or to abolish some not- functional or unnecessary and inappropriate functions and services ”that impede the development of the fundamental strategic aim to develop the Knowledge Economy to relaunch the European Treaty of Lisbon 2000.
Thus acting with “CREATIVE CLASS -NET / IS ” educational projects, initiatives and dissemination of information, all developed in order to move money and human resources towards new shared and oriented measures to enhance high-utility in social and productive innovation in agreement with science and art creativity. Those actions will be focused to facilitate new methods and processes of “emerging networking enterprises” joined between research and production in a way that they can become an efficient alternative to overcome the obsolescence of large areas of mature industrialization still lacking in a dangerous mode of production generating so great environmental pollution.
In that sense “CREATIVE CLASS -NET/ IS ” will act towards overcoming the crisis, no more in the direction of a resumption of old economic system, but more effectively realizing an actual socio-economic deep change. Operationally for example those actions can be associated with a reduction of unnecessary and costly investments on reclams, in order to replace the advertising budget in favor of cultural initiatives of dissemination of science and art. Other actions can be particularly directed to facilitate the transition from the simple conception of Innovation, limited to the technological production, forward a most large conceptualization of “INN-ovation”, which joint the advanced technologies transfer, to an more complex approach enabling, both the new mode of production and the cultural development of consumers and citizens.
