			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thursday 19th November, 2009 – The art of good CV writing, and how the information is interpreted by the recipient is a constant point of discussion amongst HR practitioners. The HR industry is about to enter into a new era with the emergence of more <a title="graphically led CV's" href="http://blogs.holstgroup.co.uk/psychometric_blog/2009/11/03/the-best-cv/" target="_self">graphically led CV’s being presented</a>.</p>
<p><span id="more-693"></span></p>
<p>For those in receipt of a CV there is always the knowledge that the information being presented before them is merely edited highlights. However, the growing trend of more graphical CV’s is changing the dynamics of CV presentation.</p>
<p>Iain Chalmers, Director of <a title="psychometric testing" href="http://www.holstgroup.co.uk/" target="_self">The Holst Group</a> explained, “For years, candidates and prospective clients have had a shared believe that clear and concise CV’s have been required. There is now a growing trend toward more graphically led CV’s. Employers are instantly able to see where a potential employee’s skill set lies and how their experience was gained.</p>
<p>“It is important to note that key techniques such as the <a title="three levels of appraisal" href="http://blogs.holstgroup.co.uk/psychometric_blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/3-leveles-of-appraisal.jpg" target="_self">Three Levels of Appraisal</a> will continue to play a pivotal role in interview situations. Presentation, attitudes and aptitudes are part of the foundation to any successful interview process as is psychometric testing.</p>
<p>However, we do believe that the art of CV development into more graphically produced documents will become more main stream as part of the interview process over the next eighteen months to two years.”</p>
<p>For many, career planning is an annual event &#8211; a chance to review progress over the previous twelve months and to plan ahead. This exercise normally requires a significant revision to the more traditional CV; however, this may no longer be the case as graphically led resumes will clearly highlight historical facts and ongoing skills that have been developed.</p>
<p>Many still believe that the more traditional CV will remain the main template used in the HR field. However, there are a growing number of specialists in the HR field that believe that CV development is set to change.</p>

<p>The Holst Group in the UK is joining over 20 countries in Global <a title="Think on Your Feet" href="http://holstgroup.co.uk/think_on_your_feet.php" target="_self">Think on Your Feet</a>® Month, the largest ever celebration of the workshop, Think on Your Feet® (June 2009). <!--more--></p>
<p>This recognises the importance that employers now place on think-on-your-feet skills for their employees. Some 20 years ago, most career advertisements required “excellent verbal and written communication skills.” Today it’s more likely that employees be asked to “think on their feet”.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft" style="margin-left: 20px; margin-right: 20px;" title="Roger H B Davies" src="http://blogs.holstgroup.co.uk/psychometric_blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/roger_hb_davies1.jpg" alt="" width="76" height="112" /> “Think on Your Feet” is probably a misunderstood term, even in English business circles,” points out Think on Your Feet International, CEO, Roger HB Davies.</p>
<p>“What employers expect is the ability to respond quickly.  In fact, what they should be expecting is two things. Employees who naturally respond quickly need to be organised in their thinking. Those who are organised need to be able to respond more quickly.”</p>
<p>“<a title="Think on Your Feet" href="http://holstgroup.co.uk/think_on_your_feet.php" target="_self">Think on Your Feet®</a> achieves this, allowing us to teach stronger verbal skills to people of all cultures and of all communication styles,” says Davies.</p>
<p>“Also, according to our global research some 90% of all verbal communication is impromptu (not formal), thus forcing people to learn how to handle Q &amp; A, how to explain complex ideas clearly, and how to be more persuasive verbally.</p>
<p>“It’s clear many organisations are still placing a premium on strong verbal skills – even in this economic climate.  When could there be a better time to be clear with your messages?” says Davies.</p>
<p>Think-on-your feet skills are now core competencies. This is highlighted by the fact that the workshop has become a worldwide phenomenon.  It’s now available in eight languages: Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Polish, French, German, Russian and English.</p>
